Meet Brett Nicholson
Hi, My name is Brett
My wife , Marcia, and I have been Minnesota residents for the last 20 plus years. We moved to Lakeville in 2012 after we married and wanted to start a family. Lakeville has always had the reputation of being a great family city and the school system was highly regarded.
I currently own and operate a consulting firm that has worked for a variety of industrial clients over the last six years. We successfully managed through the pandemic, have completed projects in six countries on three continents, and continue to support a diverse mix of businesses. My wife has been a kindergarten teacher in Burnsville since 2010. I understand the daily struggles teachers face and have a unique perspective on what drives academic achievement in the classroom.
I have significant experience in collaboration, change management, stakeholder engagement, and driving operational improvements. Now that we have two young kids starting their journey through Lakeville Schools, it's incredibly important to us that the district maintains a high level of excellence for the next decade plus. Together, we can make sure Lakeville Schools remain vibrant, successful, and a place where the next generation can thrive and reach their full potential.

I will focus on academic achievement, budget transparency, and championing our teachers and support staff. I own and operate a business process improvement consulting firm, leveraging global experience to enhance efficiency and effectiveness for clients of all sizes. With a background in human resources and industrial relations, I’ve negotiated with unions, settled grievances, led candidate searches and managed compensation negotiations. My wife is a current kindergarten teacher in Burnsville and we regularly discuss how policies impact classrooms. This combination of business expertise and firsthand educational insight offers a unique and valuable perspective, setting me apart from other School Board candidates as I aim to bring meaningful recommendations to improve our district.
